Young America had come into its own and burst onto the international scene at the turn of the 20th century. No longer dependent on Europe for high quality goods, America was now sending its best manufactured products to Europe. Our registers record the first shipments of the Special Grand to dealers in London, Paris and other European capitals. The Special Grand - a double superlative - that is reflective of the brash self confidence that a young America felt at the start of the 20th century.

A product has to live up to such a name and this one make easy work of it. For starters, it weighs 23 pounds and stands over 13 inches high. It is 19 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches deep. The case is forged brass. The base is solid mahogany. Bezel is hinged.

The Special Grand is a chiming clock, sounding the ship's bells on the hour and half hour. This is a unique satisfying way to mark the passage of time. The bells can be silenced at night. The clock's raise numeral and center piece are gold plated brass. The clock is numbered and registered and  comes packaged in a custom designed presentation gift box.
